TERMINAL CANCER & CANNA | CHRISTY
On this episode of Let’s Be Bunt, Montel talks with a cancer survivor, Christy, and her caretaker Kelly. Christy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and given a prognosis of three to five years to live. She underwent traditional cancer treatment for years, only to have the cancer return time after time until the treatments stopped working altogether. She decided to try cannabis as a last resort even though it is not legal in her home state. Her doctors are amazed and told her to keep doing whatever it is she is doing, as her cancer hasn’t progressed. She credits canna with her ability to leave hospice and move back home and continue to lead a productive life while keeping her cancer at bay.

Four activist entrepreneurs thought there should be a consistent way consumers could trust their cannabis and cultivators could improve their products. The idea: develop testing and certification standards that could be built into the cannabis production process, at scale. In 2010 they opened SC (Science of Cannabis) Labs in Capitola, California along with two other partners and developed the industry’s first testing standards.
